Catholic Church

The Catholic or Western Church refers to the historical religious institution of Western Europe (including Hungary, Poland, and the Crusader States) in the middle ages. The fictionalized Mythic Church used in the game setting of Ars Magica is based on the historical Catholic Church.

The Catholic Church was a hugely influential institution. It is far beyond the expertise and ambition of the Project: Redcap maintainers to try to write even an overview. Generations of professional historians have devoted their entire careers to studying the medieval church. As a subject from Real History, there is plenty of information on the Catholic Church available at any public or academic library.
