Dans Ars Magica, le terme « tribunal » a plusieurs significations possibles :

  1. Un conseil formel de l’Ordre d'Hermès, qui se réunit périodiquement as a combination of a governing council, a court of law, and a social gathering.
  2. One of the thirteen geographic regions governed by such a council
  3. The session held by such a council

Several customs are associated with a Tribunal session. These include

  • The Symposium held by Jerniton magi before the Tribunal.
  • The magi of House Tremere gather a few days before the Tribunal starts (HoHTL 116).
  • The flamines (priests in the Cult of Mercury) often perform a formal invocation or blessing at the beginning of the session (HoHS 16).
  • At the end of the Tribunal session, the Quaesitors meet (see HoHTL 64).
