Ars Magica: Years of Conquest is a Kickstarter campaign to develop a computer version of Ars Magica.

What is a Kickstarter campaign?

Kickstarter is a Web site for "crowd funding" of creative projects. Sometimes artists, authors, and game developers have expensive projects they want to undertake, but can't afford to finance themselves. Kickstarter allows people to pledge money to get the project started. Each project has a minimum funding goal: if the pledges meet or exceed that goal, everyone who pledged money is obligated to pay, and the project starts. If the project falls short of its funding goal, nothing happens and nobody pays. Note that even if the project gets started, there is no guarantee it will ultimately succeed.

The Kickstarter Basics page does a better job explaining this than we can.

Just to be clear, Project: Redcap has no affiliation with Kickstarter or with the Ars Magica: Years of Conquest project. We're announcing it because we think it will be of interest to Ars Magica fans, that's all.

About the Proposed Game

Ars Magica: Years of Conquest will be a 2-D, single-player, turn-based game. The best description of what the game will be like is on its Kickstarter page.

David Chart has posted some details of what the game will be about in the thread on the official forum.

Funding Status

Project: Redcap is not going to spend time regularly posting updates on this project. See the Kickstarter page.

The project was announced on October 19, 2012. The deadline for pledges is November 18, 2012, at 1:09 pm EST.
