Contrition

A decree of contrition is a formal acknowledgement by the Conciliatory Board in the Theban Tribunal that a polites has attempted to make amends for a former misdeed that led to the granting of shards. It is described in The Sundered Eagle 28-29 and is important as it allows the polites to potntially escape being subject to a Vote of Ostracism. Polities may also of course negate shards by use of tokens.
