Each Ability a character learns has a Specialization, a narrow field of expertise the user of the Ability is particularly good at. Specializations grant a +1 bonus to the die roll involved in its use.

While a specialization is technically required for all Abilities at character generation, some troupes allow the specialization to remain undefined until such time that the player wants to define it.

It is not clear how specializations can be changed in-game. A common house rule is to allow a character to change the specialization every time he gains experience in the Ability. Another common choice is to allow him to change the specialization every time he raises the Ability's score.
