Well-traveled

From Project: Redcap

Well-Traveled as a Minor General Virtue[1] that indicates the character has traveled more extensively than the typical resident of Mythic Europe. Mechanically (in Fifth Edition), it grants additional experience points for use in Living Languages, Folk Ken, and other specific Abilities related to travel.

Character Background Suggestions

Many residents of Mythic Europe rarely travel farther than the next village. The higher social classes tend to get around more because they have estates or other interests distributed throughout the country (and they have money to afford mounts and bodyguards, which make travel much easier). There are exceptional individuals of every social class who travel more often than their peers. Here are some suggestions why characters in Mythic Europe might travel frequently.

Occupation
Certain professions, such as sailors and pedlars, not to mention redcaps, travel routinely for work. Merchants travel to their suppliers, their markets, and to trade fairs.
Military Experience
Knights, mercenaries, nobles, and veterans may have marched on long campaigns, perhaps ranging as far as the Holy Land.
Pilgrimage
Pilgrims travel for religious reasons but also for fun, to see new places. Pilgrimage destinations may be local, regional, or international. Rome and Jerusalem are the biggest international destinations, but any cathedral in Mythic Europe will also attract pilgrims, as will sacred wells and the like.
Rank
Bishops are expected to visit the churches in their diocese. Nobles travel to oversee their manors and visit their vassals.
