Rego

From Project: Redcap

Rego, one of the fifteen Hermetic Arts, is a Technique used in Hermetic Magic intended to control or elicit a natural change in the target, including the target's spatial location.

Since the changes of Rego are natural, their effects usually persist, although they may naturally change once the magic ends. For example, a block of stone moved ten paces to the side will remain there once the magic ends - unless it is not supported, and then it will fall until it reaches the ground.

Some changes, although natural, involve also an element of creation or destruction, necessitating the relevant Requisite. Thus a spell to age a young man into adulthood would require Creo, while one to age an old man into decrepitude would require Perdo.

Rego also encompasses some counter-intuitive changes, like changing water into ice. The Art is sometimes used to mimic the work of mundane craftmanship, and can reproduce such effects with sufficient Finesse (see Craft Magic).

Notable traditions and magi

Although it's not clear that the founder of House Tremere was considered an expert in the art, the house and its members have a prediliction to focus on it, along with mentem. Any modern Titanoi, as well as any other magi or traditions that focus on summoning, will focus on this art, though again, they may not be experts as such. Such summoning traditions and magi may rely on combinations with forms, or either major or minor magical foci, or possibly non-Hermetic forms of summoning.

By the same token, Jerbiton magi who focus on controlling minds or creating art through magic, might, but would not necessarily, become experts in this field,
